Meet the Artist

Artyom Manukyan

Artyom Manukyan

When someone sees or holds one of my pieces, I want them to feel a connection to Armenia’s heritage and the artisans who have come before me.

"I’m Artyom Manukyan, a ceramic artisan with a passion for crafting pieces that carry the essence of Armenian culture... and artistry. Born in March of 1981, in Yerevan, I grew up in the Kond district, a place with a deep sense of tradition and community. My early education took me to eleven different kindergartens and elementary schools, a unique start that taught me adaptability and appreciation for diverse experiences from a young age. Later, in 1987, I entered the secondary school named after Perch Proshyan, where I discovered my interest in the arts. This passion guided my journey through life, and in 1996, I took a major step toward my dream by enrolling at the State College of Fine Arts named after Panos Terlemezyan.

"During my time at Terlemezyan College, I immersed myself in the world of design, studying techniques and exploring various art forms. However, my studies were interrupted when I was called to serve in the Armenian army. I served in the Republic of Artsakh, a transformative period that taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of community—all values that later found their way into my art. Returning from service, I was determined to continue my creative path. A year later, I completed my studies in the design department at Terlemezyan, eager to bring my artistic vision to life.

"Working with ceramics felt like a natural choice for me. There’s something uniquely rewarding about shaping clay, a material that holds centuries of tradition and history. I’ve always been drawn to the art of storytelling, and in many ways, each ceramic piece I create tells a story—a narrative embedded in the shapes, textures, and motifs inspired by Armenia’s rich heritage. In my hands, clay transforms into functional yet meaningful pieces that honor our past while bringing warmth and artistry into modern homes.

"I am particularly inspired by the landscapes, architecture, and symbols of Armenian culture. I work meticulously with clay to create designs that resonate with these themes, whether I’m crafting a small decorative object or a detailed wall piece. My process begins with envisioning a piece’s form and purpose, and I often incorporate traditional patterns or textures that evoke Armenia’s historical art forms. The colors I choose are also intentional; earthy, warm tones reflect the natural beauty of our region, while vibrant colors represent the energy and spirit of Armenian festivals and traditions.

"One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is the opportunity to share Armenian culture with others. I believe that art connects us, bridging generations and cultural backgrounds. When someone sees or holds one of my pieces, I want them to feel a connection to Armenia’s heritage and the artisans who have come before me. I aim to create ceramics that aren’t just objects but invitations to explore and appreciate our culture, history, and values.

"For me, working as a ceramic artist is not only about creating beauty but also about preserving and sharing something meaningful. Each piece I make carries a bit of my story and my identity as an Armenian artisan. Through my work, I hope to bring the spirit of Armenia into homes around the world, connecting people to our land’s art and traditions. Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you—I look forward to creating pieces that bring warmth, inspiration, and a touch of Armenian soul into your life."

A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.
